Introducing how Stitch, which is advancing AI use in digital marketing and creative fields, worked to obtain C Certification (AI Governance Core Certification) in order to prevent “shadow AI” and move safe, confident AI use forward.

■ About C Certification
C Certification is a new certification system, operated by the Japan Deep Learning Association (JDLA), a general incorporated association, under which JDLA certifies as a third party that a company's AI governance efforts conform to its certification standards. As the use of AI, including generative AI, continues to spread, companies are required to put rules in place for using AI safely and appropriately, manage risk, and build a system for continuous operation. As a certification that objectively demonstrates these AI governance efforts, C Certification plays an important role in helping companies show customers and society that they can be trusted.

At Stitch, as the number of AI tools used for work grew — including ChatGPT, Claude Code, Figma AI, and Adobe's AI — the company felt the need to clarify “which AI tools to use, under what rules, and to what extent.” In the C Certification project, Stitch involved members who were driving AI adoption while working to identify the AI tools used within the company and put internal rules and regulations in place.

For Stitch, understanding which AI tools were being used internally was one of the key efforts toward obtaining C Certification. The company says it came to recognize the importance of first grasping actual usage, since letting AI use spread without clear rules or a management system in place could make it impossible to control risks such as information leaks and copyright issues.

Stitch views obtaining C Certification not as a goal but as a starting point.
